Pandemic is having a sweeping impact on everyday life. Our mind is trapped in between various emotions right now that include stress, anxiety, and fear. The pandemic situation is deteriorating with each passing day, and it is obvious to feel these emotions now more than ever.
We often hear the phrase, 'Man is a social animal.' However, the
pandemic has forced the same man to stay away from people and follow social
distancing. Thus, it is apparent that anyone can feel lonely, stressed, and
anxious when such an unprecedented situation arises before us.
Anxiety is one of the common issues faced by many people during this
crisis. We need to fight to overcome the pandemic, and we need to fight it
together. For this, we need a strong mindset. Here are some tips that will help
in coping with the anxiety during the Covid-19 pandemic.
1. Distance
yourself from the outside world
Try to take a break from everything. Don't watch the news, read the
newspaper, and give social media a break. It is necessary to stay informed
about the situation. However, watching negative news every day will end up
making you anxious. Try and watch positive news or positive stories. It will
help you to stay away from negativity. Strictly stay away from fake news and
forwarded messages.
2. Spend
time on yourself
Spend some time with yourself amidst your own company. Write something
or read novels. Learn a new skill or engage in online courses. Spend your time
productively. Spending time with yourself will calm your mind and body.
Give some time to recreational activities. Play the childhood games you
loved or your favorite meals. Mood refreshment is an excellent coping mechanism
when it comes to stress. Practice gratitude affirmations every day. They will
build your faith and calm your anxiety. Pursue activities that make you happy
and brighten your mood.
3. Take
care of your mind and body
Take care of yourself. Your body needs care, attention, and love.
Practice meditation, breathing exercises and stretching. Sleep well and give sufficient
rest to your body. Avoid consumption of like alcohol, tobacco, etc.
Good food habits will help in reducing your anxiety. Balanced and
nutritious food is a must to keep your immune system strong.
Stress and anxiety may cause overeating. Avoid emotional eating. Eat a
healthy and balanced meal.
4. Get in
touch with your loved ones
Call your family and friends. Try online group games. It will give you
refreshment and entertain you in these difficult times. Stay connected with
people through the internet, even if you are isolated. If you feel anxious or
depressed, call your most loved ones and share your thoughts with them.
5. Help out
others and be kind to everyone
If you are safe and can help out someone, please do so in any way you
can. Sharing things with someone or helping them will make you feel happy and
stress-free. We all need each other. It's time to stick together.
Even if you are unable to help, be kind to everyone you come across.
Kind words always go a long way.
Only you can fight against your anxiety. Divert your mind from
negativity to productivity. Be around children. Focus on your mental health and
also keep a check on your family members' mental health. Please ensure that you
are not panicking and taking care of your immunity. Try to be positive in this
situation. Take all preliminary precautions and get yourself vaccinated as soon
as possible.
